About Terma Network

Terma (Tibetan: གཏེར་མ) directly translates to "hidden treasure" — various forms of hidden teachings foundational to Tibetan Buddhism, Vajrayana, and Bon traditions.

Our mission is to gather and preserve the teachings of the Buddha from Mahayana and Vajrayana—bringing them together in one accessible digital sanctuary. We collect rare manuscripts from monasteries, digitize ancient texts, preserve oral commentaries from living masters, and curate teachings from diverse Buddhist traditions worldwide.

We honor the Tibetan Buddhist lineages that have preserved these teachings for over a millennium. By uniting the dharma teachings in one platform, we ensure future generations can access the full spectrum of wisdom that guides beings toward liberation.

The Terma logo depicts the Three Jewels of Buddhism—Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha—with the central blue jewel representing the Dharma as hidden treasure (Terma) emerging from the golden ether cloud.

Q

"How can I develop compassion for difficult people?"

A

"Remember that even difficult people are suffering beings seeking happiness. Shantideva teaches us to see their actions as arising from confusion, not malice. Start with tonglen meditation — breathing in their pain, breathing out relief. This transforms both hearts."

Example Questions

"What's the difference between Gelug and Kagyu views on emptiness?"

"Can you explain the stages of the bardo?"

"How do I practice mindfulness of breathing?"

Scholarly Approach

Every response includes citations from original sources and traditional commentaries.

When lineages disagree, we present multiple perspectives with clear attribution.

Built with academic rigor, accessible to all practitioners.
